Why is it important to know who you are (identity) to discover your passion?
Knowing who you are is a big factor on influencing your passion. When Elaine talked about her passion she mentioned how she got there. She knew that her heart was set on serving children and therefore that became her passion. If Elaine did not know who she was, I believe that she would not have found her passion. A persons identity becomes what they live for. If a persons identity is unknown, then they do not know what they are living for. However someones passion can also identify their identity. When someone does not know who they are they should look at what they value and find worth in. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
I thought it was interesting of how you traced passion with identity rather than the traditional route of identity--> passion. A person's passion does unveil little or alot about who they are and I definitely believe that God has interconnected those two things when it comes to His creation. You gave the verse about treasure and heart, how could treasure be paralleled to passion?
ReplyDeleteWell I believe that passion is what each individual treasures. When something is treasured, worth and value are found in it, which is how Pastor Paul defined identity. In a sense, Identity is what you treasure and that treasure is your passion.
DeleteI liked how you mentioned Elaine since we would not have been able to go to Skid Row and serve School on Wheels without her guidance. From yesterday, I saw what she meant by having her passion set on serving children because the kids were just really energetic and happy. The volunteers at the site also seemed to be really enjoying themselves, which I found awesome!
